Every Sunday morning we gather at 10:00 a.m. to offer God our praise and thanksgiving and to listen for God’s voice in our lives today.  We celebrate that the God of history and tradition is still speaking to the people of the 21st century.   We worship God when we listen to God’s word that is recorded in the Bible and when it is proclaimed by God’s people, from the pulpit and from the pews.  Our worship service varies somewhat each week, but includes music, prayer, silence, the sharing of celebrations and concerns from the congregation, and a sermon.  Our worship is enriched by our energetic music program which features our adult choir, children’s choir, Sunday School singers, and bell choir.

Everyone is welcome in our worship service; we embrace the saying of the United Church of Christ, that “no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here”.

Children of all ages join their families to attend worship each Sunday.  Following a children’s story, they are invited to attend Sunday school class in our vibrant Christian Education program, led by dynamic and enthusiastic volunteers.  You are invited to be in touch with our Director of Christian Education, Anne Sorensen, for more information at arszoo@aol.com

The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome, including children.  This is a time when all of God’s people are invited to share in gifts of bread and cup.  It is a time of remembering, reflection, thanksgiving; communion reminds us of God’s “amazing grace” and invites us to rejoice in the living and ever-present God.

Our spirit of welcome continues after worship, when all are invited to share a cup of coffee, refreshments, and fellowship.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, re-new old friendships, and cherish some precious moments of conversation and community.

Special Services, including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, and occasional intergenerational services, are held throughout the year.

Jesus welcomed everyone.

So do we.

Come and visit us!

You are invited to Holy Week Services

Palm Sunday Worship.  April 9, 10:00 am                                                            Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and we gather together for a special worship service.  We will continue to experience God through our senses.  On this Sunday we will especially be listening for God.  The RSCM and Adult choirs will be singing.  We will also celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.

Celebration of the Seder Supper.  Maundy Thursday, April 13, 6:00 pm.          Everyone is invited to this pot-luck supper!  Bring a salad, main dish, or dessert as we enjoy a time of fellowship on this special night.  Before our meal, we will sample symbolic foods and remember the story of God leading Moses and the slaves out of Egypt and into freedom.  This is a Jewish celebration that we honor because Jesus celebrated this Passover meal with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion.

Service of Tenebrae.  Maundy Thursday, April 13, 8:00 pm.                              The word "tenebrae" means shadow.  Come hear the story of Jesus' final hours as he chooses to let the shadow of death overcome him.  This is a quiet, morning service when God's love and God's willingness to give his Son for us is made clear.  Because this is a solemn service, we encourage older children to attend with their parents and younger children to take advantage of childcare in the nursery.

Good Friday Vigil and Prayer Service.  Beginning immediately following the Maundy Thursday service and continuing until 9:00 pm on Friday.  You are invited to enjoy the peace and silence of our sanctuary during our prayer vigil.  You may sign up for a time that is "yours"; you may come to sit, pray, listen to music, and reflect on God's movement in your life and the world around you.  Please sign up in Fellowship Hall for a time when you can enjoy our sanctuary in solitude, or with a friend.  ~At noon on Friday, Pastor Sue will lead a short service of prayer and reflection.  All are welcome.

Easter Sunday.  April 16                                                                                         6:00 am.  Sunrise service in back of the Woodstock Academy.  "On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb... and found the stone rolled away from the tomb."  Come and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the beauty of the early morning.                                                                          10:00 am Celebration of the Resurrection!  Let us sing our praises to God and give thanks for the gift of forgiveness and new life.  The RSCM and Adult choirs will be singing!
